Vitamin K is important for blood clotting and is essential for the synthesis of blood clotting proteins in the liver. Vitamin K is also known to help maintain healthy bones. This is due to its ability to activate calcitonin, a hormone produced by humans, which in turn helps to absorb calcium into the bone.
