Borage oil is obtained by cold pressing borage seeds and is a rich source of fatty acids. Fatty acids are lipids, which is the general term for dietary fat. The body manufactures different fatty acids, but those that cannot be produced in adequate quantities must be obtained from the diet (essential fatty acids).
Solgar Borage Oil 1300 mg provides 300 mg of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), in addition to the unsaturated fatty acids, linoleic acid and oleic acid. Replacing saturated fats in the diet with unsaturated fats helps to maintain normal blood cholesterol levels.
