1. Wash and dry your hands thoroughly. 2. Remove a lancet from its sterile packaging. Do not use if the packaging is damaged. 3. Start with a shallower setting and increase if necessary. 5. Choose a puncture site. Fingertip is common, but alternative sites (e.g., forearm, palm) may be used as directed by your healthcare professional.
6. Place the lancing device against the chosen puncture site and press the release button. 7. Gently squeeze the puncture site to obtain a sufficient blood sample. 8. Apply a clean cotton ball or gauze to the puncture site after obtaining the blood sample. 9. Carefully remove the used lancet from the lancing device following the device manufacturer's instructions and dispose of it safely in a sharps container. Never reuse lancets.
